This modality uses deep strokes for the manipulation of the deeper layers of tissue and muscle, with more concentration on areas of chronic pain and tension. During a deep tissue massage, I focus on the major muscle groups, such as the neck, shoulders, and back that are more susceptible to straining or injuries. The benefits of a deep tissue massage would be to treat chronic back pain, to help reduce blood pressure, reduce stress, anxiety and muscle tension. It is also used to break up scar tissue, improve athletic recovery and performance.

This is one of the most common modalities of massage therapy. This type of massage incorporates long gliding strokes using usually the palm of the hand to cause kneading and friction to loosen up the muscles and tissue. The benefits of Swedish massage is for a feeling of overall relaxation, remove toxins from the muscles and tissue as well as help improve circulation and the reduction of stress.

Myofascial release is a hands-on technique that provides pressure into tight and or painful areas. During this session, it is not uncommon for clients to experience both a physical and or an emotional release due to the trauma that the body might have gone through. Most hot stone massages are about an hour and a half session that uses smooth, heated stones to provide continuous heat and used as massage tools for an intensely deep relaxation massage. The benefits of a hot stone massage are an overall feeling of relaxation.

Prenatal massage is a therapeutic modality that focuses on the special needs for the mom-to-be as she goes through the different stages of pregnancy. The benefits of prenatal massage is to help regulate hormones, to reduce stress on the weight-bearing areas, increase blood circulation, helps to reduce anxiety and helps the mom-to- be sleep better.

Hydrotherapy is the use of water for treatment of trauma and disease. Hydrotherapy involves immersing the body part in, and alternating between hot and cold water. The heat of the water dilates the blood vessels and the cold causes them to get smaller (called vasoconstriction). This type of treatment helps to increase blood flow, which helps accelerate recovery of the muscles. This session is beneficial for reducing inflammation of joints, treating plantar fasciitis, Carpal tunnel syndrome, and Achilles tendinitis.
